Here we are, leaving' the 90's and entering the 00's. Sounds like we're goin'
backwards, but...

Fiddlin' has a bright future in the new millennium with all the youngsters playing now. The 20th Century gave us "Fiddle Camps". They have been so beneficial to young and old alike, with the sharing of new tunes, old tunes and different techniques. Fiddle Camps have helped me in the fact, that as a teacher, I am exposed to many different approaches to the way the fiddle is played. Music is an emotion and everybody has their own feeling inside. When I write a tune for someone, I try to capture his or her personality or when I write a tune for a place or an occasion, I try to express its atmosphere.

The 20th Century also gave us the "Fiddle Contest". A great place for fiddlers to gather and compete against each other (amicably, I hope), while entertaining the fiddle fans. At many contests, the big fun is the jam sessions in the parking lot or at the campground, while at other contests, the big fun is the old time dance afterwards.

Now as we enter the new millennium, we look forward to all that fiddle music has to offer. Like everything else, fiddle music is evolving, just listen to all the new tunes being written by many people, including myself. Things change, they have to or we don't progress as long as we don't lose our roots.

I hope you enjoy this collection of tunes on this Fiddillennium album.
