1. BRYAN GEAR
Bryan Gear is a wonderful fiddler and pride of the Shetland Islands.

2. WILD ALBERTA ROSE
Andy Greatrix & I composed this tune in 1992 and it was the title track of my 1992 release.
Exceptionally, this one is not a car tune.

3. ROGER LANDRY WALTZ
Roger Landry is a fiddler from Brampton ON, who attends many fiddle camps. Roger always has a smile on his face and is always happy, no matter how tough the class gets.

4. KELLI TROTTIER
Kelli Trottier is a terrific fiddler and stepdancer originally from Dunvegan ON.

5. STEW TIFF DRINKS
Sheila Pelletier of Birch Hills SK made a slip of the tongue after two stiff drinks.

6. LE REEL MICHEL ALLARD
Michel Allard is one excited fiddle fan and also a fiddler from Drummondville PQ.

7. MONTANA BON
At a fundraising auction for the Montana Fiddle Camp, the auctioneer asked, “How much am I bid for a Calvin Vollrath composition” and Bonnie Zieske put in the highest bid.

8. UNDER THE NEW MOON
Every spring I teach at a fiddle workshop in Northern Manitoba for the Frontier Fiddlers.
The 2003 workshop was held in Grand Rapids MB on the weekend of a new moon.

9. LAURA
Laura Hall is a dandy fiddler from Foster PQ.

10. JOSÉ MCKAY
Joe (José) Mckay was one of my students at the Montana Fiddle Camp. Joe passed away suddenly in 2002. I was asked to compose a tune in his memory, in this style that he liked.

11. OAKS OF COBDEN
Every year following the Pembroke Fiddle Contest, I proceed to beat Randy Foster in a round of golf at the beautiful Oaks of Cobden Golf Course in Cobden ON. Back to the practice tee Randy!

12. ST. RAY GERMAIN
Ray St Germain is a rhythm guitar player that played with me for many years.

13. CAL & FRED
This tune was composed by Jess Lee, a singer from Edmonton AB. The melody reminds him of Freddie Pelletier & myself. He hummed this tune into my pocket recorder and I took it from there.

14. FERN FOUBERT’S WALTZ
On the request of Huguette Foubert, this tune was composed for her late husband Fernand, who passed away Jan 2003. Fern was a fiddler from Wakefield PQ and loved to play & dance waltzes.

15. JIMMY THE COMPERE
Jimmy Burgess was the Master of Ceremonies at our first show in the Shetland Islands on Sept 18, 2003 at the Shetland Fiddle & Accordion Club.

16. TERRI LYNN
Terri Lynn Mahusky is a fine fiddler and step-dancer from Renfrew ON.

Car-Tunes
Last year I bought a small pocket digital recorder to carry with me, wherever I go. In the music business, you find yourself on the road a fair bit. So when I’m driving down the highway and a melody pops into my head, I turn on my recorder and start humming. Every one of these new tunes was started in the pocket recorder, driving my car somewhere. Likewise, a lot of folks tell me they mostly listen to music while travelling. Hence ‘Car Tunes”. I hope you enjoy!
